Coultrain of Hawthorne Headhunters (US) Left-of-center R&B songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Coultrain (born Aaron Michael Frison) is from St. Louis, Missouri. He appeared on releases from the likes of the One (via a Waajeed remix) and Nato Caliph prior to releasing his conceptual and cerebral first album, The Adventures of Seymour Liberty, in January 2008. Additional featured roles on material from Gotta Be Karim, I, Ced, PPP, and J-1 aka the Deer, along with full-length projects such as Mugpush and Hawthorne Headhunters, preceded his second album. That release, titled Jungle Mumbo Jumbo, was issued on the Plug Research label. Home to Hawthorne Headhunters, as well as fellow soul-rooted, boundary-pushing artists like Shafiq Husayn, Bilal, and Anthony Valadez to name a few. He will present is Jungle Mumbo Jumbo Lp which is already a classic inspired by 'Her', the missing pieces, and the generator, operator, and destroyer within. He went from Choir boy to Sweet Soul deliverer keeping his gospel roots. Raised on Percy Sledge and Wilson Picket by his parents,he later on joined a pentecostal choir and soon enough started leading. Years after,he started his own group with two fellow singers and a guitar/piano player. A precocious songwriter,he would favour compositions rather than covers.
